General
Summary:
Performs Journey level skills in one building trade, as well as competency in the repair, maintenance and renovation of the Casey facilities.
Performing Journey level skills in carpentry as well as competence in window repair, plumbing, electrical, heating, painting, sheet-rock, and structural systems.
Repairs and replaces structural and finish woodwork and wood equipment such as counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, doors, shelving, building framework and finishes which includes trim work, drywall, and plaster repairs.
Maintains, repairs, and replaces building architectural elements, typically involving windows, doors, glazing, window covers, insulation.
May perform minor roofing and siding repairs.
Applies paint and other protective coatings to interior and exterior surfaces.
Performs work of a skilled nature in the remodeling of facilities and equipment.
Performs small installation jobs, working from drawings, and including planning the work; estimating and arranging the materials, supplies, and equipment required; and coordination with required trades.
Inspects worksite for planned work's impact on conference center guests and other Casey staff.
Consults with supervisor and departmental safety plans to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
Works with supervisor to either prevent or communicate planned outages to conference services personnel.
This position is responsible to be on-call on a rotating basis approximately 13 times per year.
The person on-call must be available via phone or pager during off-hours, including weekends, and be able to respond to the campus within two hours of being contacted.
While serving on-call this position may perform a variety of maintenance activities.
All Facilities employees are designated as essential staff and are subject to working during times that the university closes due to inclement weather or an emergency.
Works evening and weekends as needed.
Works overtime as required.
Regulated building materials abater:
Abates minor amounts of asbestos, lead, and mold under direction and supervision of an Asbestos Supervisor.
Earns and maintains a minimum of 32-hour Asbestos Worker Certification.
Earns and maintains an EPA Lead Renovator Certification (8-hr).
Receive training and perform some mold remediation.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency.
Two years of Journey level carpentry experience in the maintenance of a multiple building facility that includes customer service related work.
Journeyman position characteristics include but are not limited to the following:
repair or alter buildings, construct new facilities from blue prints, concrete work, adjust, repair, or replace locks, operate power equipment, develop preliminary cost estimates, operate tractor, backhoe, and service vehicles.
Must have excellent customer service skills, effective work habits, including commitment to quality of work, attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
Ability to learn and act on new technical or complex information and able to follow written and verbal instruction.
Must be physically able to wear a tight fitting half mask respirator and pass annual medical exam.
Must be physically able to perform mold remediation (training will be provided).
Ability to properly use hand tools and power equipment used in the trade.
Must be able to load and unload materials.
Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must be able to carry, deploy, climb and lift different size ladders.
Ability to work from ladders and elevated platforms.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders while carrying supplies or equipment.
Valid driver's licnese with good driving record.

This position is located in Coupeville, at the Camp Casey Conference Center.
Salary:
$21.
88 - $22.
59 per hour, DOE This is a full time position with excellent benefits.
